In this week’s episode, Samantha and Karenna dive into a conversation that completely redefines the way we look at “New Year’s.” Culturally, we’ve been conditioned to believe that January 1st is the moment to create massive goals, reinvent ourselves, and leap into action. But energetically, seasonally, and historically… that makes no sense.
January lands in the heart of winter, a time meant for reflection, rest, nourishment, and deep connection. It’s the season of slowing down, not speeding up. Yet so many of us set lofty resolutions in the dead of winter, only to burn out by spring. Why? Because the natural world isn’t supporting output or high ambition during this time. It’s supporting stillness.
In this episode, Samantha and Karenna explore why the real New Year, the astrological New Year, begins in spring, when the sun returns, energy rises, and creation becomes natural again. Instead of forcing productivity on January 1st, they share how to use winter for gratitude, integration, and intention-setting, so that when March arrives, you can step into aligned action with real momentum.
They also talk about how living with the seasons this past year (eating seasonally, adjusting their pace, and honoring the rhythms of the sun) transformed their energy, their work, and their overall wellbeing.
(And for those in the Southern Hemisphere, yes — we see you living your best summertime life in December. Enjoy your sunshine while the rest of us are basically houseplants under heated lamps.)
0:04: We’re your hosts, Karenna and Samantha.
0:06: This show is your permission slip to stop holding back.
0:10: Here we talk about what it really means to live unapologetically you in your relationships, your business, and your everyday life.
0:17: We believe the most magnetic version of you is rooted in self-expression, honesty, vulnerability, and showing up fully as you are.
0:24: When you own that, you naturally attract the people, the opportunities, and the life that is meant for you.
0:31: So we’ve had a really full day today.
0:33: We have had a really full day.
0:34: We spent the morning talking about a new business idea.
0:38: With some really good friends, which we’re so excited about, and then we came home to like cook all day because we’re going to Friendsgiving after this.
0:46: We’re like, let’s throw a podcast episode in there.
0:48: Well, because that’s what you have to do.
0:50: Yeah, it’s also the weekend, But for today’s episode, we really want to talk about how New Year’s is out.
0:58: So out, so out.
0:59: Like I I feel the last decade, like who’s even doing New Year’s?
1:05: Like New Year’s intentions, yeah, goals, what?
1:08: Like who has a New Year’s goal, not me.
1:11: I think I have like next year goals, but I don’t have like working on the 2026 thing.
1:18: Same.
1:19: I mean, I think we talked, we did an episode on this last year and I know we wanted to talk a little bit about the changes we felt by not celebrating New Year’s in the same way and basically in the episode, we talked about how we felt like creating really big goals in the dead of winter made zero sense.
1:39: So like what are some of the ways that you’ve noticed by implementing.
1:43: So basically what we did last year is we didn’t set goals instead we set we set a few like.
1:48: Yeah, reflections.
1:50: Yeah, and maybe a few like intentions on how to care for ourselves more, which we’ll get more into.
1:56: But yeah, what are some of the things you noticed by not putting all that pressure I mean, the, I just got to rest.
2:03: I remember like, I mean, I’ve always been someone like New Year’s goals.
2:06: I’m gonna lose this much weight.
2:07: I’m gonna do this much in my business.
2:09: It’s always the weight I’m going back to the gym.
2:11: I’m gonna stop working out and I’m gonna go harder and I think one thing that I’ve been like living by is just like really embodying a lifestyle and change so.
2:22: I think like the end of the year last year was like this new opportunity for me to like really welcome the winter in a way that I’m not like, either hating or like, oh my gosh, winter is here.
2:34: Oh my gosh, I’m up to 3 months, but then also the New Year’s goals.
2:37: So when I say that was like, I think the biggest shift for me last year to go to like more reflection, not really caring about New Year’s goals, has been just like the ability to like really rest.
2:48: And I’m even more excited to like rest this year because we went really hard in the paint.
2:54: we like really accomplished so many things and we put so much energy out.
2:58: And it was a perfect time for that, right?
3:00: It was spring, it was summer, and now the fall’s here and like the winter, I can already feel myself being like, I don’t really want to show up as much.
3:08: Like, I’m not going to drop the ball on the things, but like I’m not Going as hard on Instagram or I’m not really thinking so much about like how much money can we create and like finish the year with.
3:16: Like, I’m so much more like, OK, how has this year been?
3:19: How do I feel?
3:20: What do I want next year to look like?
3:22: And coming from a place of reflection, not so much like pressure to make something happen.
3:27: And I also don’t have as much shame and guilt, which I think is like the biggest thing or pressure because I’m like What’s the, why are we doing this in the middle of winter?
3:36: Like, it’s just so silly to like write down all my goals and then come up January 1st and then just be super hard on myself to get up super early.
3:45: I used to get up at like 5 in the morning when I was doing like my New Year’s goals, and then I wouldn’t want to go and my body was just like, no, I be resist it.
3:54: I shouldn’t be home.
3:55: I want to go to bed early.
3:56: I, all the things.
3:58: So what about you?
3:59: Yeah, same.
4:00: I would definitely stay up late working, trying to make things happen, get things done.
4:06: I think the biggest, my intention, I think we spoke a little bit about it last year, but my intention or reflection was that I really wanted to start living more at the seasons, especially after Nick came on and talked about.
4:17: Like following and even Tara’s episode as well where we talked about Ayurvedic health and like again it’s all about eating with the seasons, living with the seasons, and I think that that really influenced how I kind of went through the year.
4:29: So when again same when fall rolled around, the second the time changed, I’m just like, oh, I gotta slow down.
4:35: Like this is not the pace anymore.
4:38: I think.
4:38: Everyone feels like 6 o’clock hits and it’s pitch black and you’re just like, oh, it’s bedtime, right?
4:42: It’s 90, it’s 6.
4:44: The days are so much shorter, so much shorter.
4:46: Even next to us, he’s like, I just can’t get as much done and I don’t think we’re meant to.
4:50: I agree and I think like giving yourself permission to be in that.
4:54: I think also I’ve slept a bit more.
4:56: I’ve gone to bed earlier, I’ve slept later and the old me would have like punished.
5:00: Myself for that or been like, oh, you didn’t accomplish enough, you didn’t get enough done and instead I’m just like, I don’t need to, it doesn’t make sense during this season to just be like pushing, pushing, pushing.
5:10: I was laughing the other day at the studio, at the jewelry studio because, you know, everyone’s talking about Christmas gifts, you know, and I was like, they asked me, oh like what are you working on?
5:18: I’m like, I don’t make Christmas gifts for people like I’ll give jewelry throughout the year, but like this is not the energy.
5:26: Like, I mean, I’m, I’m working on commissions for people that are paying me, but in terms of like giving gifts of jewelry, as much as I’d love to do that, like I realized like I don’t have the capacity for that at this moment.
5:36: And I think so many of us, I think even about like, my cousins and I are doing a holiday.
5:42: We’re doing a Secret Santa, so everyone gets one person, which just feels so good and like so much less pressure filled to like we do that at our house too, yeah, just, I don’t know, I think overall it’s really a reflection of just slowing down and not putting all this pressure on yourself like you said, or guilt or shame.
5:59: And I think by us not setting even for our business, not setting.
6:04: Solutions this year or last year.
6:07: we were able to go hard because like when spring hit and we did our manifestation course, it was like, oh, OK, now we’re going.
6:14: And after that we did our first wellness event and then we just kept moving along and I think because we rested more in that period and didn’t push so hard, I had capacity for it.
6:24: Oh, absolutely.
6:25: Like for those that don’t know, so like Sam and I really look at the year as like New Year’s is like the last.
6:32: End of the year, like we’re not necessarily going into that like May is like New Year’s for us, like, when spring actually happens, and I like remember the post that I made that we were like calling in for our our manifestation master class was like, Literally me opening the door, you can smell spring, you can smell New Year energy.
6:50: You can feel the sunlight and you’re like, wow, this is New Year’s.
6:55: Like this is, this is the time where I can really come out and blossom and spring just like all the other plant flowers, flowers and plants are already doing like the flowers are blossoming and it’s so beautiful and everything feels fresh and you’re like just kind of like waking up from your, your slumber.
7:12: It’s like what it feels like.
7:13: And you’re like, wow, I want to, like there’s no like push to.
7:17: And I think that’s like the biggest thing that we’re talking to is like if you naturally just like connect with your body.
7:23: And you listen to it intuitively, you don’t want to make last minute Christmas gifts for everyone, you know, like you’re like, I’m not like you’re like, I don’t want to go to the goal setting master class on New Year’s and like standing behind a computer at 6 p.m. and like thinking about your new goals are like you just don’t want to, you have to hit the mark, and like this isn’t saying that Sam and I are all all of a sudden becoming like.
7:47: Not doing anything like we’re still doing our lives like we’re still committed to our health.
7:51: We’re still going on walks, we’re still going to the gym.
7:53: We’re still eating healthy, but like we’re not putting our pressure on like reaching this new thing.
7:58: Like it’s just not this like This checklist that I’m trying to accomplish.
8:03: I like the analogy of the bear because I don’t know about you, but for, so when I was a kid, I thought the bear just like went in the cave and slept for three months and never came out.
8:13: And I’m like, dang, what do they, how do they eat in there?
8:15: They must store a lot of food.
8:16: And then I found out, oh no, they do leave the cave, but it’s like minimally and they’re conserving their energy.
8:21: And they’re not doing as much and that’s like how I equate it is that you’re not just stopping life, but you’re definitely slowing down to the rhythms of nature and how nature is like asking you to go inward.
8:34: I mean, right now it’s Scorpio season, which is all about going inward and questioning deeper and look, reflection, reflecting, reflection.
8:43: Yeah, maybe like that’s something that I last year I did like, I love reflecting.
8:47: I think I’m not as good at reflecting like monthly, but I do love reflecting around birthdays.
8:52: I love reflecting around the end of the year.
8:55: I love reflecting around like, Honestly, probably the end of the year and like birthdays are probably like the best time to like reflect.
9:01: I mean, obviously if we’re like watching like quarterly goals and whatever, like we need to like reflect more, but some of my favorite questions to like ask myself around this year is like always start with something positive.
9:13: Not like getting hard on myself on like, well what didn’t you do?
9:17: No, it looks like, what did you accomplish?
9:19: What are you grateful for?
9:20: What are you most proud of?
9:22: Like what of a lesson, what lesson did you learn this year that you want to take into the next year?
9:28: what was something that surprised you this year?
9:32: What’s something that made you feel alive this year that you didn’t even think was going to make you feel alive?
9:36: If there was like one thing that you wanted to take into the new year, like what would it be?
9:40: Like, what version of you did you have to become or did you get to become because of everything that you faced this year?
9:46: Yeah, Someone asked me in my DMs too.
9:48: , today, are you working on personal goals this year coming up?
9:51: Are you working on business goals, you know, or business?
9:54: And yeah, I think all these questions are so powerful.
9:58: And then the key is like you don’t have to then take action January 2nd.
10:01: It’s like, OK, these are the things I want to accomplish.
10:04: What are the small things I can do to get there?
10:06: And I’d really say I think you’d agree is like more self-care in the beginning will prepare you for when you have the energy to actually go after those things.
10:16: Absolutely.
10:17: I mean, like, business and personal are the same.
10:20: You know, I think so often like whatever we’re not the way that our energy is in our personal life is going to impact the energy that we have in our business.
10:27: So if we’re taking care of ourselves in this season, like doubling down on like really pouring into yourself like, Give yourself a nervous system break, get off social media, get the massages, drink the water, eat nourishing foods, like, go to bed early, wear the blue light blockers, like, these are all the things that are going to support the business goals that you really want to make.
10:50: Like at the end of the day, like we just came off of a two day conference on women and wealth and They talked about like your business is energy.
10:58: They actually said like 95% of it is your energy.
11:01: It has nothing to do with strategy.
11:03: And I think for women that are listening to this podcast, that’s even so much more important, like business and attracting success is so much about the energy that you hold and that you believe in yourself.
11:15: And that’s what you’re going to attract in this world.
11:17: And we’re not men.
11:18: Like I think that was the other big message I really took away is that you don’t have to do business like men do business.
11:23: We can And if you think about it, we are like the creators.
11:28: We bring life into this world, like we flow, we’re the divine feminine.
11:31: Yes, we have masculine too, but I think the more we lean into that, the more success we feel and and attain because we’re allowing the flow of life to happen.
11:42: And in that, I think, I think we’ve both known that we’re not men in business, but I think what was so even more Validating for the people that are listening here is like there are women that are super successful, working 4 hours a day, pouring into their energy, their moms, their moms, or not even just moms, but they’re preparing to be motherhood, like they’re everything and everything that we do talk about like creating a business that does not feel like it’s draining, it’s 100% possible.
12:09: And like, yeah, there’s sprints like you’re not going to get away from like a hard sprint, but like, A part of this practice, I think that we’re saying to slow down the winter is also the embodiment of giving yourself permission to slow down.
12:21: There’s so much programming out there that says that you’re supposed to go hard like men.
12:27: You’re supposed to work 8 hours a day, every single day for all month long.
12:31: Like we are so different and we’re wired differently as women.
12:36: So I say this to like no matter where you are in your success or business, embody the slowness and get used to being slow because I think people have a really hard time to slow down.
12:46: Wasn’t it Laurie Harder too that was saying like you have to learn, I think it was her, but you have to learn that it’s really about the journey because the more you’re focused on the end goal or you like she was talking about $10 million dollar businesses, remember that whole talk, and she was saying that You think you want something and so that becomes your obsession and you, you’re working towards it, but like really, maybe it’s that you actually want something completely different.
13:12: And when you slow down and allow yourself to actually enjoy the process, you’re able to access the whatever it is that you’re actually Seeking versus like getting almost getting like blindsided because you’re only focused on that one thing.
13:25: Yeah, and like I think the process of slowing down is like realizing the woman that you’re becoming in that, more than anything.
13:33: It’s it is a reflection, it is the breaking down.
13:36: I think one thing that I took away from the event as well is that most of these women like grew, some of them grew really, really quickly.
13:45: And because they did not not slow down, like it honestly crashed and burned or they burnt out and they wanted to completely destroy their company and businesses like they told and and some of them did, they broke it down and they’re like, I no longer want to do this.
13:58: And they also talked about like their mental health challenges and that and like that’s A big part to this, you guys, like aside from us living by the seasons, like we want to support our mental health more than anything.
14:08: Like, when I think about my health, my energy, my mind, like my inner world, if that doesn’t feel good.
14:18: The outer world doesn’t feel good.
14:21: And like, if I don’t feel good internally, like that’s not everything that I’m creating on the outside isn’t going to feel good.
14:28: And I’m like, this inner world is so much more important, and that’s going to take the nervous system regulation, the self-care, the eating well, the slowing down, the learning to embrace being bored.
14:39: Like, you know, I think when I was telling you the other day, when we were Talking, I think I had the other day I was like, I had my first board day and this thing I was like, there’s like a Friday.
14:51: We were like, it was dark by like 5:30.
14:54: It was raining too, and it was raining and I look at Nick and I’m like, I’m bored.
14:57: Like, what do I do?
14:58: And Nick, Nick laughed.
14:59: He’s like, oldre would create another business in the middle of her boredom.
15:03: I’m like, no, I’m good.
15:04: I think I have enough businesses to think about at the moment.
15:08: , I was like, if I start doing that, don’t let me, but it was just like my, the parts within me that didn’t know how to slow down.
15:14: So I was looking to create something like, how have you, have you ever like done this you’re like, I don’t know what to do.
15:19: So I’m like force myself to create things that I have to do.
15:23: Like they’re not even on the to do list and they’re not even that important, but like I’m making it up as it’s important just because I want to fill up the space and time.
15:29: Yeah, that’s why I told you, before, like one of my goals has been to be OK with being bored.
15:35: Like I’ll just lay on the couch for 20 minutes with Mowgli and pet him and I’m like, OK, I can just sit here for 20 minutes.
15:41: Minutes and call my mom.
15:43: Yeah, I’m not on my phone.
15:44: I pet him so I don’t look at my phone.
15:46: Also, sometimes lately, especially like I don’t want to be on it because I’m already on it so much.
15:50: So I think, but it’s, it is a practice and then you’re just like, holy shit, what am I doing?
15:56: I’m so bored.
15:58: I should be doing 500 things, but I think that also is so important for your mental health.
16:06: Because there’s always gonna be more to do.
16:08: There’s always gonna be.
16:10: And it’s interesting in those moments because I think for so long when I was bored or had needed a break, I would scroll, which just gives you more anxiety or it puts you more into mental health, stress and dysregulation.
16:22: So having those moments, I always feel better or sometimes lately too, I would go for a walk.
16:28: Like that’s another way, which I guess isn’t really being bored, but I mean, you’re not, I’m not, I don’t bring my phone.
16:32: I’m not bringing anything, so.
16:35: Yeah, but yeah, just being in silence or being literally just being bored.
16:40: Yeah, I know.
16:42: Which is crazy because I think about when I was a kid, I didn’t have a phone.
16:45: I didn’t have anything.
16:46: I was bored all the time.
16:48: I love all those old videos where people bring up like all the things we used to do as kids and we were bored like playing with folding pieces of paper into origami or doing what was that one.
16:58: Did you ever do that one like kiss I was like the game, yeah, and you’re like pick one and then there’s an answer, the fortune thing, yeah, yeah, like a fortune cookie thing.
17:09: so it feels good kind of.
17:10: I feel like I’m like rekindling that inner child that’s just, and I also always 1100% always get creative downloads when I give myself that time.
17:19: Oh, absolutely, and that’s the other thing we need this time.
17:22: Because I think even for us, like as we started slowing down a little bit and like not even like showing up on social media as much, but like going to these events, like, we’re still networking, we’re still connecting, but you and I are just having so many like conversations about what next year’s looks like and that takes creative energy.
17:39: We’re not necessarily coming from a place of like, We need to build something by the end of the year so that by January 1st we can sell it and like we’re not doing that, we’re just in the sense of like creative energy and creative space to like give the space for what next year looks like to come through.
17:54: Yeah, and I think it gives you the ability to have more clarity and trust our intuition, which is women is like our power superpower and we’re so much more tapped into our intuition than most men, I feel and It’s just kind of a given.
18:07: So I feel like why not utilize that to the to our maximum capacity or their maximum ability.
18:14: The other thing that makes me think too about this is like, I think this is important like to look at the season as like a maintenance season.
18:19: Like it’s not like a Completely stop everything.
18:23: It’s just like, what can I do to maintain everything that my capacity like my vessel has grown in the last year?
18:28: I think like that’s the other thing like we’re constantly wanting more.
18:32: And as like high achieving fully expressed women, like we want to create more, we want more.
18:37: But what if this is the season like God, winter, the life, Mother Nature, the seasons we’re like, this is your time to either release a couple more layers or just to maintain.
18:50: The vessel that you’ve grown.
18:52: So like when I think about expanding your capacity to hold more, like you can only keep expanding.
18:56: Like, if you’re not expanding, maintaining, expanding, maintaining, expanding, maintaining, expanding, maintaining, all of a sudden your vessel is going to be like.
19:04: I can’t hold anything and that’s when we wanna like break everything down.
19:07: So, I mean that’s why we have retrogrades and that’s why planets go retrograde, so we don’t go cuckoo.
19:12: Like so that we have a time to reflect and to pause.
19:16: All of nature does that.
19:18: It doesn’t just keep Along.
19:21: And so we’re just maintaining our energy.
19:23: Yeah.
19:24: And what does that look like?
19:25: So, I also love to, when we start having these conversations about like time management or that you’re saying like you’re preparing yourself for what’s to come because I think about Like when I took my herbalism class, so many, there’s so many powerful herbs that can support us, but they build on top of each other over time as you take it, right?
19:43: And I think we’re such a culture, at least in the Western world of immediacy, we’re like take the Advil that takes the headache away in 20 minutes.
19:50: And, you know, we’ve spoken about our own health journeys, but when you’re actually trying to make huge shifts in your life and hold more capacity and create more space to take on more, it’s like you have to think of it as like a waiting period or Holding period to actually like put, get the muscle built so that you can continue forward.
20:09: And I think instead of like pushing yourself, recognizing that this is an opportunity for you, like you said, to like expand, to hold more, to to take that moment of pause so that you can actually step forward into a whole new way of being.
20:25: It’s like the if you, I almost feel like if you take out the time portion, because I feel like there’s such a It’s always like we’re we’re racing time.
20:34: We’re not far enough.
20:35: We should be further.
20:36: We should have more money.
20:37: We should have a baby by now or be married by now or have a house by now or blah blah blah, all the things we say.
20:42: But when you really let go of that and you just allow life to guide you as you go, it’s compound on its own.
20:49: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and it’s all in divine timing.
20:53: Like it actually unfolds beautifully.
20:56: And that was another thing at the event I really loved is like when you start to hear these stories like Kathy Heller shared so many amazing stories of the synchronicities that happen when you stop trying to control and you just let go and let God guide you.
21:09: And it made me think of even now, like, it’s so easy to say, oh, our bit, we could easily sit here and be like our business should be here by now, but instead we’re like, OK, we’re holding this much.
21:20: How, OK, we want to hold more, we want to create more.
21:23: Let’s take a moment to reflect so that we can actually create the space and I think in 5 years from now, 3 years from now, when we’re looking back, we’re going to see the divine thread that went all the way through to take us right where we were meant to be all along.
21:36: Yeah, and those are in the pauses.
21:38: Yeah, yeah, there were so many.
21:39: I mean we can do another episode on just like the takeaways from that event because I know I was thinking that in my head as we were talking about it.
21:44: Clearly there’s so much.
21:46: the other thing that I want to bring up to like tie it back to this like moment of pause or this season of like going inward is like something that I’ve been reflecting on a lot, especially because I really believe in like living fully expressed and I think there’s a belief around like, you always have to be expressing yourself.
22:03: Like, you always have to be showing up, you always have to be teaching, or you always have to be like, using your voice and speaking your truth and stepping your power.
22:12: And I do, I’ve been like coming to this understanding or this like belief of like, no, like, I can be quiet.
22:19: Like I can slow down, like I can go inward, I can just listen.
22:22: I can become the observer.
22:24: There’s nothing wrong with me not expressing myself or sharing a lesson or a teaching.
22:30: And I think that can show up in so many different ways of life.
22:33: It’s like you don’t always have to be expressing yourself.
22:35: You don’t always have to be putting energy outward.
22:38: I think one of our values that you and I talk about, and, no matter what is like, no matter whatever your truth is, live that.
22:46: And I think this is like another form of if you really get clear on like this season is supposed to go inward, my truth is to just listen.
22:57: And that is a form of expressing yourself because your inner world wants to just listen and our bodies just want to listen.
23:03: They want to observe.
23:05: And so like if we get clearer on like, oh, my body is literally craving this.
23:11: Why?
23:11: The fuck am I letting the voices inside me tell me that I’m not good enough if I’m not just like listening.
23:18: Yeah, or doing or doing that’s like, you know, I just think about the part of me that like, in the past would always be like, you got to go harder, you got to do this, da da da da da.
23:27: And I’m like, no, I just really just want to just be and reflect and trust that like what I’ve created.
23:34: is creating an energy that I don’t even see and knowing the synchronicities that that is happening.
23:42: I mean, I feel like that’s the breakdown in the matrix system that we’re seeing right now of like, we’re all fucking tired.
23:48: People are tired.
23:49: They don’t want to push harder.
23:51: So it’s like, OK, we’ve pushed, pushed, pushed, and we’re not getting, I’m sure there’s a lot of people out there that are working really hard and not getting the results they want.
24:00: So why not try a different way?
24:01: Why not just say, Corn and I were talking the other day about free will and do we have free will, which we should do an episode on this too, but do we have free will?
24:11: Are we really learning to just let go of resistance?
24:14: Are we just learning to shift our mindset and to gain emotional awareness and to let go of resistance?
24:22: And what would happen if you just let go and you just allow.
24:24: It doesn’t mean you don’t take action, it doesn’t mean you don’t do, but like you’re not trying to control every outcome or push beyond your own capacity.
24:33: It’s really trusting God and it’s surrendering and trusting yourself.
24:37: Yeah, that’s really what it comes down to.
24:39: I think so many of us like We don’t see the signs that we’ve been always executing on what we’ve already promised ourselves, but our world is constantly reflecting back to us what you’re not.
24:51: Yeah, it’s not what you’re not doing, and you’re like, wait, this entire year, like, I’ve done great things like.
24:58: You know, I think about, I’m just trying to think about like every kind of person, like maybe you had a year that was really hard.
25:04: And you’re still here.
25:06: That is a huge win, you know, like, what a beautiful time to just give yourself grace in this moment in this winter season.
25:13: Be like, wow, this year was so hard for me mentally, but I’m still alive.
25:18: I’m still breathing.
25:19: I’m so grateful for the person that I’ve become.
25:22: I might still be in the shit because of it, but like you’re resilient.
25:26: I’m more resilient.
25:28: And so I think not only do the reflections give us grace, but they also give us an opportunity to reframe.
25:35: The way that we’re viewing our lives.
25:37: And that’s why you so deeply need the reflection because it’s like, oh, I didn’t realize I accomplished so much.
25:43: You know, I think about moms that like are really in it.
25:46: And let’s say you just had a baby and you also are going through it in your marriage, and you have a business.
25:51: I’m like, that’s fucking awesome.
25:54: You’re still here and your daughter, your your kids are still alive.
25:58: You’re in your marriage, maybe you’re fighting for your marriage and you’re thriving business.
26:03: Who else can do that other than women?
26:05: Just kidding.
26:06: But really, you know, so I think back to what I was saying is like, this is also like we’re just talking so much like this period is so valuable.
26:13: Don’t miss it.
26:14: Yeah.
26:15: I agree, you know.
26:18: I don’t know what else to say, but.
26:20: But yeah, I think if you needed to hear that like this, this, we need these seasons more than anything, yeah, and I think just pulling the thread on what you said about really reflecting, it just gives you a chance to really appreciate how far you’ve come and realize that you’re probably further than you even thought you were.
26:42: We’ve accomplished so much, yeah.
26:44: And there’s always more you can do.
26:46: One of the things I love too that I thought was reflected well at the event was like.
26:51: And just in general, I’ve seen this message coming across a lot more, which is that at the end of your life, what’s the most important thing to you?
26:57: Is it that you made money?
26:59: Is it that you had the million dollar business or you reached all your goals?
27:02: No, you’re not gonna even think about any of that.
27:03: You’re gonna be like, who are the people I loved?
27:05: Who are the, who are the, you know, how are my, how’s my family?
27:08: How are my kids?
27:09: How are like what impact did I leave?
27:12: How many people did I help?
27:13: I mean, I think those are the biggest things and I’m hearing more people talk like that, which is so cool.
27:18: And I think That is how we should be living every day, not did I reach every goal on my list?
27:25: Should I set more goals?
27:26: The other one I said is like the little love notes from God or the synchronicities.
27:31: Like, I mean you live such a synchronistic life, but you are such an example of literally literally trusting like you’ll miss.
27:38: You’ll be the one that misses the car ride that you’re supposed to get to the plane and you’re like, don’t worry, that’s fine.
27:43: And then you run into someone and it was great.
27:45: You’re like, I wouldn’t have gotten here.
27:46: The amount of trips that I’ve been on with Samantha, she has so much grace.
27:49: I just flow and I’m like, yeah, it’s fine, no big deal.
27:52: But she let you literally do say like, it’s gonna be OK.
27:54: There’s gonna we’re gonna get there right on time or we’re going to get to the reservation and Those are the moments where you’re like, I actually, I didn’t have to breathe.
28:02: I didn’t have to like do anything to get that.
28:04: Yeah, I think about when we were in New York, we were in New York with our friend, and she was not feeling good.
28:09: Bless her heart.
28:10: Sorry, sorry, Rochelle.
28:12: We were in New York and we’re on the train and I was, you know, I was taking charge and I got us on the train, but it was, some of the trains in New York, if you haven’t been there, they like have direct routes, so they skip stops.
28:24: So we ended up in Brooklyn.
28:26: We’re going to dinner, just her and I.
28:28: And we ended up in Brooklyn.
28:29: Like we literally, we, I was like, oh, this is weird.
28:33: Like she’s like, are we crossing the Brooklyn Bridge?
28:35: We were not supposed to be in Brooklyn, y’all, OK.
28:38: And I’m like, oh shit, you know, like I’m, and she’s already frustrated because she doesn’t feel good.
28:42: And I’m like, oh fuck, I’m so sorry, you know, like I knew she was upset and I’m like, it’s OK, we’re gonna get there and we’re gonna get, you know, we’re on a tour, you got to go over the Brooklyn Bridge, hey yo, and then we’re gonna come back and we’re gonna walk right in and sit down immediately.
28:54: Look at I just knew.
28:55: We got, we literally got off the first stop, turned around, got back, walked, we, we got off right at the restaurant, walked there, walked in.
29:03: They’re like, we have a table for you.
29:04: And this is a restaurant that I’m telling you, like I’ve been there 3 times now, and you always, there’s always a wait, like there’s a wait.
29:10: It’s a very popular restaurant about it.
29:12: It’s called Leong.
29:13: It’s Vietnamese.
29:15: It’s the best.
29:16: Honestly, it’s so good in New York.
29:18: If you like pho or you like Vietnamese food, 10 out of 10, if you don’t, you should go.
29:22: Yeah, you should still go.
29:23: It’s amazing.
29:24: but we walked in and we sat right down and that was like such an example of it just didn’t actually waste time because I think if we got there early we would have just been sitting because it was very, it was fully packed restaurant.
29:35: So yeah, I mean.
29:36: Again, I had to, I don’t think she might have felt the same way.
29:39: She’s probably like we could be sitting in this warm restaurant waiting.
29:43: But I think those I think the more you just let go and you allow life to flow, it always works out.
29:49: Even the other morning I was driving to Pilates and.
29:55: I was supposed to get on the freeway.
29:56: It’s like a 13-minute drive on the freeway and like an 18-minute drive and I was gonna be late.
30:01: And I just blanked out and I kept going straight down the coast.
30:04: And then I was like, oh shit, I was supposed to get on the freeway.
30:07: I was already committed.
30:08: There’s no turning around.
30:09: I’m like, all right, whatever, I’ll be late, it’s fine.
30:11: And then I realized like, wow, I haven’t seen the ocean in 2 weeks because I’ve been traveling and it just instantly like calmed my nervous system.
30:18: I felt so good and I ended up getting to the class at the same.
30:21: time if I had taken the freeway.
30:22: It’s just like those little things that I think we take for granted or we’re so in our mind because I could have spent the whole car ride being like, damn it, why didn’t I just get on the freeway?
30:30: I’m such an idiot.
30:32: But I just have tried and tried to really just let go and be like, it’s OK, it’s all gonna be, it’s meant to be, it’s destiny.
30:39: And the more that we let go, and we don’t have like our hands on the wheel like holding on like how we’re supposed to do things, I think that’s what we’re talking about like The more that you see things happen, you have more visibility, like, yeah, the amount of times that I go back to like my hypervigilance, fight or flight modes, like my nervous system completely like focused in on something.
30:58: You know how I thought I saw so clearly, but like literally, I was so fucking blind because I was only focused on what I wanted to see, not what like God wanted me to see or my friends saw in me or what my business partner sees or like what my business is actually doing.
31:14: Like, I just saw the negative.
31:17: I didn’t see this whole other world of possibilities.
31:21: And I think The beautiful thing about this season, the winter season, is that we get to learn that skill.
31:28: We get to learn how to pause, reflect, open ourselves up to like, what else?
31:33: What other realities are there out there?
31:35: Like we all know, like the subconscious mind, you literally are looking things through one lens.
31:41: There’s a like millions of different glasses that we could be looking through and picking up every single day.
31:48: And I and we decide to choose the, the red ones that are super dark and you can’t see anything but you like a really hyper focused to see something versus like the clear ones, you know, and like maybe some days you’re looking through yellow ones and You know, I just say that because I’m like, you know, this is our time to learn this.
32:05: And I think we are constantly learning this.
32:07: 100%.
32:08: I used to be really impatient and I used to get so worked up and anxious over all those same situations.
32:15: Like I would easily have driven down the road and been like, you idiot, even if, even though I I would have still gotten there on time.
32:20: I would have beat myself up about not taking the freeway.
32:22: Like I get it.
32:23: I just think over time when I started really like reflecting, I’m like, I’m not changing the outcome of this.
32:29: Like I can either shift my perspective and see it as a gift or I can continue to beat myself up about something that I have no control over and I can’t change what happened.
32:37: And so I think the more that I started reflecting that, if I can give any advice is like just ask yourself when you look at a situation where you’re like, damn, that sucks, like that, I, I beat myself up for that.
32:47: Like, did anything good come of that?
32:49: No, but like in those moments when you’re just like, oh, this was destined to be, miracles are all around us all the time.
32:55: Like God is constantly showing us how divine this world is.
32:59: It’s it It is insane.
33:01: Like it really is.
33:02: Like even the train, choo choo at the event, like there’s constantly miracles, you just have to be open to see them.
33:09: And I think if we’re constantly beating ourselves up or again bringing it back to, you know, what we’re talking about here is like pushing ourselves so hard to get to some end goal.
33:18: When you get there, then what?
33:21: Then what?
33:22: Cool, you’ve made it.
33:23: If you’re super hypervigilant you’re burnt out.
33:26: It’s burnt out.
33:26: You’re like, OK, well that was stressful.
33:28: Is it worth it?
33:29: What’s the next thing?
33:29: What’s the next Is it worth it?
33:31: No, I mean, coming back to what you said, it’s all about impact, the connection, the community, our family, these things, these moments.
33:38: And the relationships, which is what business is, it’s relationships and you even miss out on the incredible synchronous.
33:46: of, I mean, I totally believe that we are all divinely connected because when we meet someone who knew this person and like this person and even it, it just, it blows my mind.
33:56: Like the more that we open to these miracles, the more miracles happen and you’re just like holy crap, this is nuts.
34:03: And like, hey, you know this person?
34:05: Well, I know this person and she knew her and we were friends in 2nd grade or whatever.
34:09: So I think It’s reflection connects you to God, really and slow you down truest self, your highest self, whatever you use like, and we’ve said it before, but authenticity is the highest expression, the highest vibration, higher than love because you’re literally connecting your inner world with the external worlds.
34:30: You are literally like I can just feel like this like divine energy just like.
34:34: Connection, bow, and then like light just explodes and like magnetizes and you’re just like, whoa, like, this feels so good.
34:42: Like, why am I so hyper vigilant in this one lane?
34:45: Like, I can see so much bigger and I think the only people that can see that for us is either God, the Creator, the universe, like higher higher selves and You know, I think one of our human lessons on this planet is to learn how to do that more often.
34:59: Again, bringing it back to like, if we don’t do that in the seasons, if we do not set time to reflect.
35:05: We will, we do not learn that skill.
35:07: We have to get bored.
35:08: We have to get still.
35:10: We have to pause.
35:12: And then or or life will force you to.
35:14: Yes, and I’ve been on that end and it is miserable.
35:18: Like it is just like, nope, sorry, bringing you down to earth and you’re sitting here and you’re not doing anything.
35:23: Sickness is an upgrade, guys.
35:24: If you’re dealing with health issues, you’re being asked to look within.
35:29: You’re being asked to shift something.
35:31: I have no doubt about that now.
35:32: I think all ease is your body basically saying, bitch, this has been building up for a while.
35:38: You’re ignoring me.
35:39: Hello, slow down.
35:41: Yeah, literally.
35:41: , OK, so we gave them some questions to like think about, which I mean, maybe I can write them down in the show notes.
35:49: We can in the show notes.
35:50: I think that’ll be good, if you guys want to spend some time reflecting, but I would love to ask you, like, I know we’ve done a little bit of reflection and maybe putting you on the spot, but like what’s one reflection you have of this year?
36:01: Let’s do personal and then business that you want to take into the new year.
36:06: , OK.
36:08: Personal, definitely continuing to be bored.
36:11: , I think.
36:17: I would like to, again, like I’ll probably do this more through spring when I have more energy, but I want to create, I wanna challenge myself again.
36:25: I like to be challenged and I think, I think we created some challenges for ourselves this year, like through the business and through my personal life for sure, but I think, I think really.
36:38: One thing about myself is when I really want something, I’m really good at making it happen.
36:42: And I think because I was in go, go, go and we’re doing all these things, I lost a little bit of like, OK, what do I really want?
36:50: So I think my reflection, something I’m reflecting on is what do I really want?
36:54: And we’ve talked about this privately, but like what’s my Deeper why, both in my personal business and our business.
37:00: And really refining that.
37:02: So in the moments where I feel like lost or hopeless or burnt out or any of those things, and I’m reflecting, I have that to go to.
37:10: So I think that’s both personal and business I guess together.
37:14: and then I think business wise, I’m just so proud of us for all the events we put on and you know, a full year of podcasting every single week.
37:24: Yeah, and we’re looking for a permanent space.
37:27: Stay tuned.
37:28: Definitely excited for that.
37:29: But I think, I think in business, I’m just really proud of like how much we got done this year and selling out our wellness events, it felt so fulfilling.
37:39: So good.
37:40: Yeah, what about you?
37:40: Well, one thing I wanna share with them, I think to like add to what you’re doing, so something that Samantha and I are doing, and this is something that I have personally done.
37:48: Since 2019, I take a trip by myself, or in this case, I’m taking it with Sam for the first time this year, because I don’t think we did it together last year.
37:58: Maybe I did it like a personal trip last year.
38:00: But since 2019, every December and January, I pick a place by myself and like reflect on the whole year, and take two days to like go through questions and You know, maybe we can do like if you guys want this, I’d be happy to host like a reflection master class.
38:18: I don’t know, like a session online.
38:20: I actually did do reflection questions last year too, yeah, but just by myself and I did.
38:24: Oh, I did do them by myself too.
38:26: but anyways, we like, I personally like my environment creates so much creativity and and changes the space.
38:32: So, we’re going to be going on our trip in the beginning of January to like really set the tone on.
38:38: I think we’re literally going January 2nd and 3rd, to just reflect on the year and we’re gonna do it together, which is gonna be so much fun, but we’re making it like an intention.
38:47: It’s something that we look forward to.
38:49: It’s like, you know, we’re making a trip out of it.
38:51: We’re not just like squeezing in before bed on a Sunday like it’s an event because it’s so important.
38:58: And we’re not setting goals per se, but we’re talking about what we want to cultivate in the next year and making plans and that’s how we’re gonna reconnect to like what you’re asking about.
39:05: It’s like reconnecting to the why.
39:07: Like what is the bigger vision?
39:08: I think we have a vision, but like what now that we’ve experienced this last year, that vision has evolved.
39:13: And I think that’s the other reason why we’re reflecting because it’s like you have a vision for yourself.
39:18: How many times have you written the same fucking goals down?
39:22: How many times?
39:23: How many times I’ve always written down like 10 more pounds.
39:28: I lose 10 pounds is always number one.
39:31: You know that that’s the same goal every year.
39:33: And now I’m like, why did I do that?
39:37: My health goals have completely changed.
39:39: Always the first goal too, like because we’re women and we’re programmed.
39:42: , I’m like we had so many talent, we have so many talents and things we could go for like lose 10 pounds for goal or my number, like the number that I want to call in was always the same or depending on like if I was single, I was going to find my person like they would always look the same.
40:00: I just rewrote the same life every time and like.
40:03: What I’ve seen happen and witness every time I reflect, I was like, oh, this is like a building block, you know, and so when I look at our last year, I was like, huh, we had a vision when Sam and I started.
40:13: Obviously I sold her to be my business partner on a vision, but that vision is gonna look so different next year.
40:19: And I think we’re gonna get more clarity like 22 to 5 years here from now,.
40:25: And sometimes you have to experience it to, to change the vision or to really get clear.
40:29: Like I think this year it was like, oh, now we really can reflect and be like, what is it we really want now after experiencing being in business together because that’s a whole other animal to experience.
40:41: Yes, I mean, yeah, for sure.
40:43: So, OK, so you personal and things you have to answer me personally, what am I reflecting on this last year.
40:52: There’s so much.
40:52: I mean, I’ve definitely increased my capacity this last year.
40:55: That was like, huge for me.
40:56: Like, I feel like I can hold so much more.
41:00: but I will say like my, I think a huge part of that.
41:04: So it’s like I lost faith and so I’ve reconnected to my faith and my relationship with God and believing in something higher, like Nick and I were just in the car talking on the way over here, like, about someone in his life that, you know, is just so focused on the negative and like, Nick and I have realized that having our spirituality and our connection to faith, Gives us is huge.
41:26: Like I am just so beyond grateful for certainty beyond logic.
41:31: I’m so grateful for Kabbalah and David because I’m so grateful to like go back to church, but like in some ways, but like just really connect to God and be like, you’ve got me.
41:41: You want everything for me, instead of me just like leaning on myself to make that happen.
41:46: It’s like, no, trusting the universe to do that for us, you know, like, really surrendering and trusting that like it’s all working like.
41:54: There is some magical being out there that it’s like, all right, puzzle piece over here, this over here versus like me fighting it.
42:02: that’s like my own personal reflection.
42:06: I’d say like in business too, like the same thing.
42:09: I think what I loved for us this year, not only the events, but like the idea to action, idea to action, idea to action, like We said we want to do walks.
42:19: We did the action, we did, we want to do our first wellness events.
42:21: OK, let’s do it again.
42:23: It turned into 7 of them.
42:24: We had no idea they were going to be 7, you know, like we did our podcast party in a much bigger space.
42:29: We hold so many more people like we did it, you know, like, I think my like business reflection is just like idea go.
42:37: Like, I think in the past with business, I would have an idea and wait.
42:41: Yeah.
42:41: Or idea and like, is that really what I wanna do?
42:44: Is that not what I wanna do?
42:46: Am I confident enough to do that?
42:48: Can we do that do it?
42:49: Can we not do it?
42:50: But like now it’s like no, idea go.
42:52: Like what am I waiting for?
42:54: What do I, what kind of proof do we need to know that the idea is gonna come through?
42:59: Like if we have a vision and we have an idea, just go and let the rest happen.
43:04: And I think For us, like we have had, we’ve always had a figure it out mindset along the way.
43:11: so I’m hoping that we continue to take that into the new year as like, idea go.
43:16: Like, I don’t know why that’s just like landing like idea go like what I think so many of you listening here have an idea and you’re not going.
43:25: You’re not doing it.
43:26: Like, you’re either talking about it, like this is kind of what I want to do.
43:32: I don’t want to do it.
43:34: Go for it, commit.
43:35: You’re gonna learn along the way if it was for you or not, or it’s gonna manifest into something that’s was perfectly divine or someone else is gonna take the idea because I think they’re all like energetic downloads.
43:45: So it’s like you either manifest on it, like you either bring it into fruition or another vessel will.
43:51: Exactly.
43:52: And I’m also like, I also know you guys have been hearing the same idea for years.
43:57: Yeah, go for it.
43:58: Just go.
43:59: Just move.
44:00: Like I think the other thing is like one thing I’ve learned through Kabbalah is like if we are in a world of action, we are in a world of action.
44:09: We are human beings, we have physical, we need to move.
44:12: Like if we’re not moving forward, then what are we doing?
44:14: , I always go back to the minions.
44:17: We do, do, do, do, do, and you know I don’t know if they did, they created that on purpose, but I was like, be do.
44:24: That’s so true.
44:25: I mean that formula to manifestation is be do you have do you have if you be the thing and you do the thing, you’re gonna get the thing.
44:35: Did you ever see the movie with, oh gosh, my Mike Myers was it and Justin Timberlake and he was a guru.
44:45: What was it called?
44:46: Oh, so good.
44:47: Anyways, I’m blanking, but he says in it, guru G U R U and I love that so much.
44:53: I’m just like.
44:55: And in it he talks about taking action and like that you’re, you can be your own guru like you don’t have to wait, you don’t have to wait for someone to come and tell you who to be or how to be like take yeah go do but in the season pause yeah but not right now.
45:09: Don’t do it right now.
45:10: Or go do the reflections that we’re telling you so you can slow down.
45:15: Go to the reflections so you can get the so you can download and be like, OK, I have the idea.
45:19: I’ve had the idea.
45:20: Here’s how I’m going to take action in the springtime when it’s the energy is there.
45:24: Yeah, I think the other thing, follow your energy.
45:26: That’s like the biggest thing, I think.
45:28: , Because this season is already naturally like slowing me down, you could even feel it in my voice like I’m just like in this season of like, like, I’m just here, you know, and I’m here to reflect and have conversations.
45:42: We’re still having business meetings, but I’m not like over here like we gotta go, gotta go like Sam like texting every single day, meeting, meeting, meeting.
45:50: All right, we’re gonna do 5 events this winter.
45:53: No.
45:53: , even the idea of that my body says no, you know, like your body knows.
45:59: I think that’s like the, the biggest thing here.
46:02: So like if anything we examine, I can tell you in this season, reflect, but most important, listen to your body and give it what it needs.
46:08: Nourish your body, love your body.
46:10: Your body is what wakes you up every single morning.
46:13: It gets you out of bed.
46:14: You have two legs and 2 ft, two legs and two hands that gets you through the day, hopefully, maybe they don’t.
46:22: And if you even if you don’t, you have one leg.
46:24: You have one arm, you might have no arms.
46:26: You might have no arms, and yet those people are still moving.
46:30: Those people are doing a lot actually.
46:31: They’re doing they’re doing the most.
46:32: They’re doing more than most of us with a motivational speaker that has like literally no limbs, and he has like a little hand and like that’s it, and he is killing it.
46:40: He’s at the gym working out.
46:43: Yeah, I should show you.
46:44: And so like if those people can do it, you can do it too.
46:46: It’s true.
46:47: If he can get himself on stages looking and being the way that he is, you can too like.
46:53: So, again, we’re not here to motivate you to take action, but I’m just taking a turn no.
47:02: OK, but that’s just our reflections and something that we’re going to take into the new year into the new year in May of 2026, March, March of 2026.
47:12: Sorry, I’m getting married in May of 2026, so I forget, in March of 2026, and So the other thing I want to leave you guys with is like one, if you really want us to do a like just get together, let’s just reflect and hang out online because I don’t know if I have the capacity to meet in person.
47:30: let us know, maybe we’ll just spring it together and pull it together.
47:33: the other thing is too is Samantha and I host a like fully expressed manifestation workshop, in March, in March of, so if you want to be put on the waitlist for that.
47:46: , let us know so you can be one of the first ones to join.
47:48: Last year was so good.
47:51: I just remember people came in with their numbers and we’re like 10x that.
47:54: I need to check in with those people and see if they’ve actually made those numbers and like how their goals have been.
48:00: but we really teach you.
48:02: How to really manifest but also like who you get to become in that journey.
48:06: And we do it in March, you guys.
48:08: We’re not doing it now because right now it’s not the season.
48:11: Anne Cri takes us through a really amazing somatic practice so that your body can actually hold what you’re trying to call in, which is super important to manifesting.
48:20: You can’t just I want $335,000 and then I mean you can get $335,000 but you’re exhausted doing it, yeah, so you have to create the container which we teach you how to do or it’s gonna disappear and your money’s gonna be like oops, where did it all go?
48:37: Where did it go?
48:38: We don’t know I don’t know, but yeah, anything else you want to share.
48:42: It feels, yeah, feels good.
48:45: Reflect, pause, be bored, slow down, be for now, do later, and then you’ll have be the bear, be the bear, yeah, just a little, little less effort, all y’all out there.
48:59: Enjoy your family.
49:00: Yeah, soak in this year.
49:02: And also, OK, one last thing I will say, one last thing.
49:06: The one thing I do think is so important about being is that’s how you find presence and that’s how you actually take in those really precious, amazing moments that are everyday moments.
49:16: But you actually start to remember them because you’re present for them versus your mind is 10 days or whatever in the future.
49:25: So, and I think during the holidays and during this period of time, we tend to like go along instead of just taking in those moments that you don’t get back.
49:35: That’s a lack of boundaries.
49:37: Yeah, well, that’s a whole another episode.
49:39: We can do another episode on lack of boundaries.
49:43: I tell people this like you can burn out in the winter and you can also burn out in the summer.
49:46: You can burn out anytime, anytime.
49:47: We know some people burn out all the time 24/7 and they’re not doing too hot.
49:55: All right guys, well, we love you so much.
49:56: Enjoy your year, end of year reflections and happy new January 1st.
50:03: Yeah, Happy 2026.
50:04: Happy 2026.
50:05: Happy Gregorian New Year’s.
50:07: Yeah, and we are beyond proud of you and who you’ve become.
